Best AI Movie Generators in 2026: 8 Apps Compared by Price

The best AI movie generator depends on how you want to work. Runway suits shot-by-shot control, LTX Studio suits storyboards, InVideo AI suits script-to-video, Kling suits long clips on a phone, and FICT suits watching an interactive story without writing prompts. Sora is no longer available.
Most lists of AI movie generators rank tools as if they all did the same job. They don't. Some make one short clip at a time, some turn a script into an edited video, and one asks you to choose where a finished story goes. A tool that is great for one of those jobs can be a poor fit for another.
We compared eight apps using the facts each company publishes on its own pricing page, help center or store listing. Every row was checked on 2026-11-02. Disclosure: FICT is our app, so read its row with that in mind. We also say below where the others beat it.

Prices change often, and your local price can differ, so treat each app's own checkout screen as final.
Which AI movie generator should you pick?
- You want control over every shot: Runway. Zapier's 2026 list calls it the best AI video generator for film-making. Its plans also include other companies' models, such as Kling 4.0.
- You want to storyboard a whole project first: LTX Studio. Zapier names it the runner-up for narrative work and warns that it is slow to produce results.
- You already have a script: InVideo AI. You describe or paste what you want and get an edited video to adjust.
- You want long clips from your phone: Kling AI. Its iPhone listing states up to 15 seconds per clip and extension up to 3 minutes.
- You want the lowest monthly plan we could confirm: Google AI Plus. At US $4.99 a month it includes video in the Gemini app and 200 credits in Flow. Google says the Gemini app makes 10-second videos with Gemini Omni.
- You want to watch and steer a story, not make one from scratch: FICT. There is no prompt to write and nothing to edit.
Runway vs Kling vs Veo vs Luma: what is actually different?
Less than the brand names suggest, because the apps and the models are no longer the same thing. Runway's pricing page lists Kling 4.0 and Seedance 2.5 alongside its own Gen-4.5. Luma's lists Kling, Seedance, Veo 3.1 and MiniMax H3 next to its own Ray models. LTX Studio and InVideo also offer outside models. So when you pick an app, you are often picking a workspace and a price more than a single model.
The real differences are in how you work:
- Runway and Luma put several models in one workspace. Runway also has phone apps, while Luma's pricing page links only to a web app.
- Kling states the longest single clip we could confirm in this table: 15 seconds, in its own app.
- Google Flow offers Veo 3.1 in three speeds and Gemini Omni Flash. Clips run 4 to 10 seconds, and Scenebuilder lets you trim and order them into a sequence. Google says Veo 3.1 Lite is a limited trial on the Pro plan, and that the Ultra plan includes Veo 3.1.
Credits don't compare across apps. Runway's Standard plan has 625 credits and Luma's Plus plan has 10,000, but a credit buys a different amount of video in each, and the amount changes by model. To compare real cost, make the same clip in the free tier or the lowest plan and see what it uses.
What happened to Sora?
It is gone. OpenAI set the Sora web and app shutdown for April 26, 2026 and the API shutdown for September 24, 2026, as The Decoder reported from OpenAI's help page. If a comparison still recommends Sora, it was probably written before then, and its prices may be out of date too.
Also changed since many of those lists were written: the Gemini app now makes video with Gemini Omni instead of Veo. Google's own page says Omni "will replace Veo in the Gemini app". Veo 3.1 is still available in Flow.
Which AI movie generator keeps the same character in every shot?
None of them solves this completely. NVIDIA researchers treated multi-shot character consistency as a hard, unsolved problem in 2024. Tools now advertise fixes, so test yours with your own character. Here is what each app lists:
- LTX Studio lists "consistent Elements" you can save and reuse, from the Standard plan up.
- Google Flow supports ingredients (references) on Veo 3.1 Lite and Fast at 8 seconds, and on Gemini Omni Flash.
- Luma lists reference images for its MiniMax H3 models.
- FICT sidesteps the problem for you, because its nightly films use the same cinematic cast. The trade-off is that you can't bring your own character.

What are the best AI filmmaking apps for beginners?
For a first try, pick something that works on a phone and doesn't ask you to learn shot language or manage a timeline:
- Gemini app: describe a scene and get a 10-second video. It needs a paid Google AI plan.
- InVideo AI: start from a topic or script and edit what comes back. It has phone apps, and we found no free plan on its pricing page.
- Kling AI: a free download, with credits or a plan for generating clips. It rewards learning how to write prompts.
- FICT: no prompts at all, and the first path every night is free. You won't be making your own film from scratch, so it is a way into AI movies rather than a production tool.

Is there an AI movie generator with interactive, branching stories?
Yes, though it is a small category. FICT is the only one of these eight built around choosing what happens. Tools such as PlayCYOA and Gameer take a different approach to interactive stories, and we compare them in our AI choose your own adventure guide.

FICT: AI Movie Maker, from SecondEarth AI, Inc., works like this. Every night at 8 PM (you can change the time), a new AI movie stops at a fork. You pick one of three people and their path plays right away: about four 10-second scenes with one more choice in the middle, ending in a movie poster with your name on it. Your first path each night is free.
FICT Director (US $8.99 a week or US $59.99 a year, no free trial) unlocks every path and lets you write your own twist. A twist becomes new AI scenes at 20 credits per 10-second scene.
Where FICT falls short: if you need a specific shot, your own script, your own characters or footage for a client, use Runway, LTX Studio or InVideo AI instead. FICT has no timeline and offers no per-shot control.

How we checked these AI movie generators
We opened each company's own pricing page, help center or store listing on 2026-11-02 and recorded only what it states. Where a page didn't state something, the table says so. We did not run a quality test, so this comparison doesn't rank how good the video looks. Adobe's plans page served us non-US prices, so we left out a US price for Firefly. For a deeper explanation of the categories, read what an AI movie maker is and the four types.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI movie generator in 2026?
It depends on the job. Runway is a strong pick for controlling individual shots, and Zapier names it the best AI video generator for film-making. LTX Studio suits storyboarded projects, InVideo AI suits videos built from a script, and FICT suits people who want a finished interactive story on a phone without writing prompts.
Is there a free AI movie generator?
There are free starting points, but most are small. Runway gives 125 one-time credits, LTX Studio gives 800 one-time credits for personal projects, and Adobe Firefly has daily free generations. FICT's first path every night is free, though you watch and choose rather than generate from your own prompt.
Is Sora still available?
No. OpenAI set the Sora web and app shutdown for April 26, 2026 and the Sora API shutdown for September 24, 2026, according to The Decoder's report of OpenAI's help page. Lists from 2025 that recommend Sora are out of date.
Can AI make a full-length movie by itself?
Not from one click in the tools compared here. Most generate clips of 4 to 15 seconds, and you join them yourself. Kling's Video Extension reaches up to 3 minutes. Script-based tools build longer edited videos, but expect to review and fix them scene by scene.
Which AI movie generator lets you choose what happens?
Among the eight apps here, only FICT is built around choices. Every night a new AI movie stops at a fork, you pick one of three people, and their path plays. The other seven make linear video that you direct up front.
