Interactive Netflix Shows: All 25 Titles and Where They Went

Netflix released about 25 interactive titles between 2017 and 2023, including Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, You vs. Wild and Kimmy vs. the Reverend. It removed most of them on December 1, 2024, and the last two left on May 12, 2025. Interactive films now live on as games and AI story apps.
If you are looking for the "interactive" row on Netflix and cannot find it, you are not imagining things. The row is gone. This page lists every interactive title Netflix made, when each one left, why Netflix gave up on the format, and where you can still find stories that let you decide what happens next.
Does Netflix still have interactive shows?
No, based on everything reported through 2025. Netflix's pullback came in two steps:
- December 1, 2024. Netflix removed all but four interactive specials. Two older titles, Minecraft: Story Mode and Puss in Book, had already gone (December 2022 and January 2024).
- 2025. The two Bear Grylls titles, You vs. Wild and Ranveer vs Wild, were taken down in January 2025. Then Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend were removed globally on May 12, 2025, as first reported by What's on Netflix.
Netflix's own explanation, from a spokesperson quoted by What's on Netflix: the technology "served its purpose, but is now limiting as we focus on technological efforts in other areas."
One caveat. In August 2025, Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker told The Hollywood Reporter that reports of Bandersnatch's disappearance were "exaggerated" and that "things are brewing." We found no announced return date as of October 2026, so treat that as a hint, not a plan.

This list follows What's on Netflix's November 2024 inventory, which is the most complete public list we found. "Left" is when the interactive version stopped being available.

Two patterns stand out. More than half the list is for kids, which is where Netflix started in 2017. And only a handful were made for adults: Bandersnatch, Kimmy vs. the Reverend, Choose Love and the trivia titles. Why did Netflix stop making interactive shows?
Netflix's statement points to technology priorities. The economics point the same way, and they explain why every past wave of interactive film faded too.
- Every branch is extra footage. A two-option choice means two scenes to write, shoot and edit, and half the audience never sees each one. Stack a few choices and the scene count multiplies.
- Special playback. Interactive titles needed player support that not every TV, streaming stick or app version had at launch.
- Hard to rewatch and translate. Every branch needs subtitles, dubbing and maintenance, while the format discourages the casual background viewing that streaming depends on.
- Choices that do not matter. To keep budgets sane, writers merge branches back together. Viewers notice when a choice only changes one line of dialogue.
The interesting part is that viewers liked choosing. Bandersnatch got wide news coverage when it launched in December 2018, NPR's among it, and it is still the first title people name when they talk about interactive TV. The demand did not go away. The cost of pre-filming every path did not go away either.
What to watch or play instead of Netflix interactive movies
If you miss the feeling of Bandersnatch, here is where choice-driven stories went. They split into two kinds: pre-filmed branches you pick from, and stories generated after you choose.
| Option | Year | How you choose | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Late Shift (Wales Interactive) | 2016 | Pick from timed options in a live-action heist thriller | PC and consoles |
| Erica (Flavourworks) | 2019 | Touch and swipe objects in a live-action mystery | PS4 (2019), iOS and Steam (2021) |
| The Complex (Wales Interactive) | 2020 | Pick from options in a live-action sci-fi thriller | PC, consoles, iOS, Android |
| Five Dates (Wales Interactive) | 2020 | Choose which video date to pursue and what to say | PC, consoles, iOS, Android |
| Interactive story apps | Ongoing | Read or type choices in text stories | iOS and Android, see our app comparison |
| FICT | 2026 | Pick one of three choices or type your own; the next animated scene is generated | iOS and Android |
The live-action games are the closest thing to Bandersnatch: real actors, real footage, fixed branches. Their limit is the same as Netflix's. Every path was filmed in advance, so the story can only go where the crew already went.
How AI interactive movies differ from Bandersnatch
An AI movie app flips the order. Instead of filming every branch first and letting you pick one, it makes the next scene after you decide. That removes the cost problem that sank Netflix's specials, and it means your choice does not have to be one of two buttons.
FICT is one example, and we make it, so weigh this section with that in mind. Here is how it works:
- Start from a "What if…" setup (hero, world, mood and art style such as anime, watercolor or 3D) or a story from the library.
- Watch an animated scene with narration and dialogue, 5 or 10 seconds long.
- Pick one of three choices, or type your own action.
- FICT generates the next scene. Choices are final, there is no length limit, and you can replay the finished movie from the start.
Where it falls short of Bandersnatch: there are no live actors, scenes are short, and the result is an animated film, not a polished studio production. Where it goes further: nobody wrote your ending in advance, and you can steer the story anywhere. You can try the free sample film, The Last Train, before spending credits.
Write a “what if…”, watch the scene, choose what happens next. New players get 20 free credits.
Will Netflix bring interactive shows back?
Nothing official says so. Netflix's 2024 statement framed interactive specials as finished, and the company's interactive effort has moved toward games. The only public hint is Charlie Brooker's August 2025 comment that Bandersnatch is "not gone" and that "all these things are going to slightly merge," which suggests games and shows blending rather than a return of the old interactive row.

Frequently asked questions
Does Netflix still have interactive shows?
Not as of the last reports. Netflix removed most of its interactive specials on December 1, 2024, and the last two, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend, left globally on May 12, 2025. Check the Netflix app in your region for any change.
Is Black Mirror: Bandersnatch still on Netflix?
It was removed on May 12, 2025, according to What's on Netflix and later reports. In August 2025 Charlie Brooker told The Hollywood Reporter that "it's not gone" and "things are brewing", but no return date had been announced.
Why did Netflix remove its interactive shows?
A Netflix spokesperson said the technology "served its purpose, but is now limiting as we focus on technological efforts in other areas." Branching shows are also expensive to make, since every choice needs extra scenes that many viewers never see.
How many interactive titles did Netflix make?
What's on Netflix's November 2024 list counts 25 interactive titles released from 2017 onward, from Puss in Book and Minecraft: Story Mode to Choose Love and We Lost Our Human.
What can I watch instead of Netflix interactive movies?
Live-action interactive films still exist as games, such as Late Shift, The Complex, Five Dates and Erica. If you want to direct your own story instead of picking from fixed branches, an AI movie app like FICT generates the next animated scene after you choose.
